James wood Portrait.jpg

James Wood is a painter and writer based between the Uk and the Basque Country. In his work he aims to bring colour and humour to the everyday and is heavily inspired by the vibrancy of life in the Basque Country.

The main focus of his artwork is to represent an image its most basic focusing more on energy and feeling rather than accuracy whilst remaining recognizable. His poetry runs parallel to painting with both disciplines feeding into each other with his writing being inspired by the human capacity for humour even in one’s darker moments as well as the mundane challenges we all face throughout our lives.

From working in his studio in the heart of the city, Wood has showcased his work in various exhibitions throughout San Sebastián. Collaborating with Arteup studio gallery, Okendo cultural centre, Keler's events space, and Puertas.art, his art has been widely recognised with his work being featured in the Dairio Vasco newspaper.

He has self-published a book of poetry, short stories and drawings. He sells his artwork throughout Europe and the Uk and is keen on collaborating and working on commissions.
